About Collection Mangement

The Collection Management Department builds and manages the NCSU Libraries' collections in support of campus research and instructional needs. The department is responsible for:
  •    Selecting books, journals, electronic resources, and media
  •    Consulting with NCSU faculty and students to anticipate their information needs
  •    Evaluating and assessing the collections
  •    Developing collection policies
  •    Compiling and reporting collections data for reviews and accreditations

The Collection Management Department would like the building of the Libraries' collection to be a collaborative process and welcomes feedback. Please feel free to contact collection managers with questions or suggestions.

An overview of the collections can be found the About the Collections web page.

The Association of Research Libraries Statistics web site has data on collections, expenditures and other categories for the 112 ARL university libraries, including NCSU Libraries.

Collection Management works in conjunction with other members of the Triangle Research Libraries Network to facilitate collaborative collection building.
