LibX

LibX is a browser extension that connects you with the NCSU Libraries in a more direct way. It puts you a few clicks away from finding information no matter where else you are online, making your research faster and easier.

Watch the videos on this page to see LibX v.1.5 in action! (All videos open in a new window.)

Installing LibX

NOTE: Users upgrading to Firefox 5 may need to remove and re-install LibX to make it work with the browser's recent upgrade.

Firefox:

  • Install LibX v.1.5: NCSU Libraries Edition for Firefox
  • A preview (beta) release of LibX v.2.0 is also available
  • Installation note: If Firefox displays a message "To protect your computer, Firefox prevented this site... from installing software on your computer.", press the button labelled "Edit Options..." and click "Allow." Add libx.org to the list of websites from which extensions may be installed. Then click "OK" and visit the "Install" link again.
  • LibX has an OPTIONAL toolbar. You can hide it and still use LibX. We recommend this option for users who don't want another toolbar. Click the NCSU logo in the status bar (bottom of the browser window) to toggle the toolbar on and off.

Google Chrome:

Internet Explorer, Safari, or other browsers:

LibX for IE is no longer supported by the developers. Versions for other browsers not listed above are not available at this time.
