Echoing Venki's comments, Atul is a masterfully concise and entertaining author. In a world of ever more complicated systems, creating an intuitive checklist that engages the mind, rather replacing thought with a list of all possible responses, increases productivity and saves lives.

Hi! This is Jean Sasson, the author of GROWING UP BIN LADEN. Thanks so much for your thoughtful review. As the writer of their stories, I was amazed by so much they revealed to me. Both were honest and straightforward and for that I was impressed, as I knew it was not that easy to go back in time and search their memories for some very painful stories.

Sarah--
So nice to see someone I know reading a series I love. Kate Atkinson is a British Whitbread Prize winner. Her writing is so fine I have now read everything she's written, including a non-Jackson Brodie. Very fine.

I can't wait to read these. Had the privilege of meeting Connie and hearing her talk about her writing process at my previous campus. She's a frequent guest at Eastern New Mexico University, where sci-fi pioneer Jack Williamson taught for many years.

These short stories are a nice change of pace for Grisham. I started Ford County in the waiting room at the dentist's office, a perfect venue for squeezing in reading time. I didn't wait long to finish the rest of the stories though.

This was also a favorite read for me this year. I accidentally picked up the Young Adult version, but it was still a good read - not juvenile. I learned a lot too, and really began to examine what I eat. Hugely important read for everyone, as we all need food to sustain life.

I read Kite Runner this Summer, and I loved it. It really put a face to the people of Afghanistan, and made me realize what I already knew; that there are real people there just like me, who simply want to enjoy life, not kill Americans.

I also love this book. The accounts of Joseph Banks in paradise, the thrilling flights and tragic deaths of the first aeronauts, Humphry Davy's experiments with nitrous oxide, and the vitalism debate are especially fascinating.
