Entry

The Eastern-most door at the D. H. Hill Library main entrance (Brickyard side of the building) is power-assisted and can be operated by a push pad. Both of the interior doors operate on a push pad. At the Brickyard level on the Western side of the main portico (near the Atrium) is another power-assisted door and an elevator to take users to the main entrance level.

Building

ADA-accessible restrooms are available on the mezzanine of the first floor (East Wing), and on the first (women's) and second (men's) floors of the Erdahl-Cloyd (West) Wing. Two ADA-accessible public telephones (one campus and one pay phone) are available in the Erdahl-Cloyd (West) Wing.

Parking

There are 2 parking places reserved for disabled users on the Hillsborough Street side of the D. H. Hill Library. There are other accessible parking locations throughout the campus, including some on the perimeter of the Brickyard, off of which the library is located. Emergency Evacuation

In the event of an emergency evacuation of the D. H. Hill Library, according to the Emergency Plan for the D. H. Hill Library: "Persons with disabilities who cannot leave the building without assistance should go to the nearest accessible safe area. Safe areas in the library are the enclosed stairway [...] Neither the Fire Department or Public Safety will check the building for persons who need help exiting unless they locate an emergency situation that requires building evacuation." If library staff are aware of disabled persons in the building, they will alert Public Safety and/or the Fire Department.
