The year 2011 marks the 35th anniversary of the publication of Tom Regan's
note, "McCloskey on Why Animals Cannot Have Rights" (Philosophical
Quarterly, 1976). This brief article contained the seeds of what would become
a controversial, influential, and widely discussed book, The Case for Animal
Rights. To mark the occasion, the NC State Philosophy and Religious Studies
Department is joining with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences to
host a workshop on Regan’s philosophy of animal rights. All meetings will be
held at NC State U. between 9:00 am - 3:30 pm on April 15 and 16, 2011.
