NC State Bibliographies of Systematic Entomology© Copyright 1999 by Lewis L. Deitz, Department of Entomology, NC State University. All rights reserved. Reuse of sections by which the © symbol appears is restricted without explicit written permission from Dr. Deitz. The NC State Bibliographies of Systematic Entomology were largely prepared by students enrolled in Lewis Deitz's graduate level course Insect Systematics. Although the individual bibliographies vary in quality, they should provide a convenient entry into the systematic literature. The bibliographies are not intended to be comprehensive and no liability is assumed with respect to the use of the included information. Corrections and additions: corrections and suggestions for additions may be directed to lewis_deitz@ncsu.edu. With respect to additions, preference will be given to works with broad taxonomic and geographic coverage. Full bibliographic citations must be provided (no abbreviations please). Arrangement: Significant publications that treat multiple orders will be missed if one searches only by order. Works that treat insects within a single order are listed under that order. Works that focus on related orders within four special categories are listed under the headings: (1) Primitively Wingless Insects, (2) Orthopteroid Insects, (3) Hemipteroid Insects, and (4) Neuropteroid Insects. General works that treat multiple orders are arranged zoogeographically as follows: (1) World/International, (2) Afrotropical Region, (3) Antarctic/Subantarctic Region, (4) Indomalayan Region, (5) Nearctic Region, (6) Neotropical Region, (7) Oceanic Region, and (8) Palearctic Region. To retrieve works on the insects of countries, such as China, that lie in two major regions, one should check under both regions (for China, the Indomalayan and Palearctic Region). Links prompting users to the zoogeographic and special categories are provided as appropriate throughout the bibliographies. Acknowledgments: Special thanks go to YengWai Chan, who reviewed, arranged and compiled the entire 1999 version of the bibliographies, and to Jonathan D. Trexler, who provided helpful comments.
