Acquisitions Department
The Acquisitions Department searches, orders, receives and processes invoices for all library materials selected for inclusion in the NCSU Libraries' collections. The staff works diligently to ensure that the annual budget is expended in a timely and accurate manner following the guidelines outlined by the Collection Management Department.
Acquisitions is comprised of the Monographs and Serials Units which are responsible for:
- search and order titles in print, microform,
electronic and other formats through multiple vendors.
- receive and handle payment for all paid materials.
- claim missing titles, including firm orders and
periodicals.
- check in all paid periodicals for the Hill Library
and all the branches.
The Monographs Unit also receives and processes
monographs and serials donated to the NCSU Libraries' collection.
Gifts-in-kind materials are initially evaluated by the Collection
Management Department; those wishing to donate private collections to
the NCSU Libraries should contact that department for more information at
(919) 515-3833.
This Serial Unit also receives and processes materials
collected as part of the Federal Documents Depository and the North
Carolina Documents Depository Programs.
